Product Designer & Front-End Engineer

I design and build the interfaces between people and technology.

I’m Scott – a product designer and front-end engineer in Houston, TX. I prototype in code, sweat the pixels, and ship polished, AI-native products.

Things I’ve designed, built, and shipped.

From a streaming platform I’ve run solo for a decade to a stack of AI-native tools shipped in evenings – a sample, weighted toward the recent.

About

Design and code, never separated.

I started out in music and law – a degree from the University of Houston, a law degree from Boston College – and found my way to software the way a lot of the best builders do: by needing something to exist and refusing to wait for someone else to make it.

For more than fifteen years I’ve worked at the seam where design meets engineering. I’ve been the first engineer at a media company and grown a team there; I’ve been the founder, designer, and sole developer of a streaming product I’ve run since 2013. I don’t hand a spec across a wall – I prototype the idea in code, feel where it’s wrong, and iterate until it’s right.

What I care about most is the moment a piece of software stops feeling like something you operate and starts feeling like it’s on your side. That’s the line I hold every project to, and it’s most of why I still love this work.

How I work

An AI-native practice.

The way I build changed when AI became part of it. These are the principles that survived.

  1. 01

Prototype in code, not in slides

I’d rather get something real in front of someone this week than perfect a mockup for a month. Code is my design tool – it’s where I find the edge cases and the feel.

  2. 02

    AI-native, in practice

AI is part of how I build now – every recent project here was made with it. It’s changed not just how fast I ship, but what I’m willing to attempt at all.

  3. 03

    Question the primitives

A lot of our UI conventions were designed for a pre-AI world. The interesting work now is inventing patterns that feel native to a collaborator, not a form to fill out.

  4. 04

    Craft is trust

The pixels, the copy, the empty states, the moment of latency – those details are how software earns trust. I sweat them, and I’ve learned how to keep sweating them while moving fast.
